Multi-Color/Multi-Material A rotary table, attached to the moving platen, is available to optimize the molding of complex multi-color parts. As an alternative to rotary table machines, standard machines with in-mold index plates can also be used to facilitate multi-color molding. All systems are built using standard Engel components, with control being fully integrated on the Engel distributed-intelligence machine controller. |

More and more processors are using multi-color technology to enhance the appearance and functionality of their products -- from smaller parts like toothbrush handles (Oral-B Partnership), to large automotive lenses and interior components. |

You can now produce parts with extraordinary performance using different plastics in multi-layer structures. For example, a hard core of reinforced material with a surface of thermoplastic elastomer or rubber/thermoplastic composites can be used without requiring adhesive agents to replace rubber/metal composite structures. An Engel 150 US ton multi-injection machine features 3 injection units, with a safety enclosure that completely surrounds the extra floor-level injection unit. |

Co-injection It's possible to reduce component cost and lower weight with a foamed inner core. Conversely, the inner component can be made of a high-performance barrier material -- as in packaging -- allowing plastic to replace conventional materials such as glass. Engel's co-injection solution incorporates all the primary features of our multi-color systems, including seamless integration, the use of standard components and our proven technology. The system also includes a unique, high-precision nozzle that ensures even melt distribution. |
